On the 3rd of September, Siklu announced that its mmWave (5G millimetre wave) technology for Gigabit Wireless Access (GWA) has been selected by the Pelephone, the first mobile operator established in Israel. Pelephone previously used microwave solutions to backhaul their cell cites, however with the introduction of LTE and the latests 5G NR, microwave links became inadequate to connect this cell sites. Initial agreement between Siklu and Pelephone determined Siklu’s EtherHaul™ 1200 series as a new solution but a yer later strategy changed now deploying the EtherHaul™ 2500 a carrier grade radio with 2Gbps full duplex capacity. In the near future it is expected that all links under 5 km will be replaced with mmWave. It is also expected that 300-400 links will be upgraded using Siklu EtherHaul™ products.
